King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath returned to the Kingdom yesterday after a three-week medical trip to China.
Oum Daravuth, adviser to the Queen Mother’s secretariat, said the King and Queen Mother received a medical check-up by a Chinese doctor in Beijing and results were positive.
“The King and Queen Mother arrived in Cambodia in the afternoon,” Mr Daravuth said. “The King and Queen Mother are in very good health, so that is why they are back on schedule.”
He noted that the King and Queen Mother were expected to return to the Kingdom prior to the upcoming Khmer New Year.
“They will join in celebrating Khmer New Year – just like every year,” Mr Daravuth said. “May the King and Queen Mother have good health forever.”
Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday greeted the King and Queen Mother at Phnom Penh International Airport.
Last month, Mr Hun Sen and other high-ranking government officials, such as National Assembly president Heng Samrin and Interior Minister Sar Kheng, saw off the King and Queen Mother as they were leaving to China.
“May His Majesty have power, wisdom, goodness, good health and long life – and be symbol to all his people, who are living in peace, forever,” Mr Hun Sen said.
During their trip to China, the King and Queen Mother also met with Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi.
