China’s Foreign Affairs Ministry deputy minister Kong Xaunyou yesterday arrived for a visit to the Kingdom to strengthen ties between both countries.
Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn yesterday welcomed Mr Kong and said the visit is part of the continuing cooperation between Cambodia and China.
“Tomorrow [today] His Excellency will join Prime Minister Hun Sen at the ground breaking ceremony for the Phnom Penh-Preah Sihanouk expressway project which will play an important part in the Belt and Road Initiative,” Mr Sokhonn said after the meeting. “We have seen that relations between our two countries are improving steadily through our historic ties as good neighbours and comprehensive strategic partnerships.”
Ket Sophann, spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, yesterday said Mr Kong will also discuss preparations for Mr Hun Sen’s official visit to Beijing to attend a Belt and Road Initiative conference at the end of April.
“Samech Prime Minister Hun Sen will meet top leaders of China and is expected to sign some documents,” he said.
Mr Sophann said that China’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has also invited Mr Sokhonn to visit Beijing to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially between the police forces of both countries, economic security and cultural ties.
