Phnom Penh Municipal Court today sentenced a woman to six years in jail with a fine of $2,500 after she was found guilty of trafficking more than half of a kilogram of methamphetamine last year.

Presiding Judge Chhim Rithy identified the woman as 36-year-old Len Paley, who lived in Russey Keo district’s Russey Keo commune.

Judge Rithy said Ms Paley was arrested in August last year at her home and charged with drug trafficking.

“The court has decided to convict and sentence her to six years in prison,” he said. “The court orders her to pay ten million riels to be put in the state’s coffers.”

Deputy prosecutor Ly Sophanna said Ms Paley was part of a gang of distributors in the capital.
