Cambodian performance team on Tuesday left for Singapore to participate in Chingay Parade which will be held this weekend.
Speaking to reporters at Phnom Penh International Airport on Tuesday, Sok Sabayna, an official at the Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia, said that 69 Cambodian officials and performers needed to depart Cambodia on Tuesday to take part in Chingay Parade on Friday and Saturday.
“Our Cambodian performance team will perform at Chingay Parade Singapore on February 15 and 16 in Singapore, so we need to leave Cambodia today,” Mr Sabayna said.
“On February 17, beside of Chingay Parade, we will bring Lkhon Khol to perform in Singapore because it was listed as world heritage,” Mr Sabayna said, adding that Cambodian troupe will perform well.
On Tuesday, all Cambodian performers were wearing Cambodian traditional dresses and T-shirts with the message “Cambodian Performance Team” and Cambodian flags.
Hun Many, UYFC president said last week at Olympic Stadium while he and Phoeung Sakona, minister of Culture and Fine Arts was present at the final rehearsal that the participation of Cambodian performers in the parade is very important because it showcases traditional Khmer dance and Cambodian culture.
