PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) — The UK Government pledged to increase the number of scholarships to Cambodian students. They also promised to give more assistance to the Khmer Rouge Court trials and help solve the mine problem.

This year, up to 24 students will get scholarships to study in the UK

The promises were made yesterday during the birthday ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II at the InterContinental Hotel.

“Cooperation between both countries was good last year, and we will keep things better in the future,” said Bill Longhurst, the UK Ambassador to Cambodia.

He added that the UK will keep helping Cambodia in as many sectors as possible, including education, the ECCC trials and more in order to build a stronger relationship between both countries.

133,300 British tourists visited the Kingdom last year and trade volume hovered around $1 billion.
