The Asian Cultural Council will tomorrow begin a series of roundtable meetings to discuss four topics about culture in Asian countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Bin Chhin today presided over a blessing ceremony at the Elephant Terrace of the Angkor Complex to prepare for tomorrow’s meeting, which will be presided by Prime Minister Hun Sen and include more than 800 guests from 26 countries across Asia.
Ek Tha, spokesman for the Council of Ministers, yesterday said the launching of the ACC is a historical event in Siem Reap province, noting that the ACC will bring benefits to Cambodia and improve its reputation.
Mr Tha said panels consisting of members of national and international communities will discuss topics entitled: “Emerging Multi-Conceptual World and Asian Identity, Connecting Culture and Sustainable Development, Harnessing Technology for Civilization Connectivity, and Building a Community for Common Destiny in Asia”.
“Cambodia has been recognised by the international community for our diplomatic abilities, which is getting stronger and stronger, year by year,” Mr Tha said, noting that hosting the ACC shows the Kingdom’s ability in garnering international support due to years of peace and stability, as well as the ability to preserve national heritage sites.
