PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – The proposed “Law on Association and Non-Governmental Organizations” (LANGO) that the National Assembly (NA) will adopt this month has created controversy among US Embassy, EU, UN, and NGO officials due to their lack of participation in the drafting process.

The government has responded to this controversy by reminding everyone that they have released a draft of the law to certain stakeholders and civil societies.

A high ranking official from the Ministry of Interior argued that this draft of the law has been already submitted for discussion with representatives from the US Embassy, Japanese Embassy, Australian Embassy, Chinese Embassy, Sweden Embassy, UN office for Human Rights, the EU and many more from national and international civil societies.
