KAMPONG SPEU (Khmer Times) – Prince Norodom Ranariddh claimed he has adopted a collaborative, “power-sharing” approach with the Cambodian People’s Party in order to preserve the influence of the royalists and for the good of the nation.
On Saturday, Prince Ranariddh met with his supporters in Kampong Speu province following his return from Bangkok on Friday.
During his address to the party faithful, Prince Ranariddh responded pointedly to recent remarks by Cambodia National Rescue Party President, Sam Rainsy, who claimed Prince Ranariddh was selfish to share power with Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Prince Ranariddh inferred that a collaborative approach was still valid today and benefitted the nation. “I decided to divide my power because if I was selfish like what Mr. Sam Rainsy said, I wouldn’t have shared my power. I would allow [people] to fight war,” said the Prince in front of 2,300 supporters.
