Poipet town police in Banteay Meanchey province are seeking to arrest a taxi driver who caused a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two men and injured two women this morning.
Chhie Buntha, chief of staff with Poipet town police, said that the traffic accident occurred at about 11am along National Road 5, where a taxi and truck collided head-on.
Mr Buntha said four people were in the taxi which was travelling from west to east as the truck was approaching in the opposite direction.
“The four people who were in the taxi were likely on their way home in a hired taxi from doctor appointments in Thailand,” he said. “The taxi driver was driving very fast and he tried to overtake a truck in front of him, crossing into the oncoming lane as the other truck came and leading to a head-on collision.”
