The Cambodia Airports, which is the concessionaire of Cambodian airports serving the capital city of Phnom Penh and is active in Sihanoukville since 2006, held a full-scale airport emergency exercise at Sihanoukville International Airport on Friday morning (Nov.30).
The exercise was designed to augment the capabilities of authorities and other agents to save victims of an accident, should one occur in or around the airport.
The exercise simulated an airplane crash and subsequent fire on the airport areal.
The fire was of burning wood, but the addition of oil and tires generated enough black smoke to make the scenario fairly realistic.
Ambulance and fire trucks rushed to the scene to rescue victims and extinguish the inferno.
