Event Spotlight: Christmas Wonderland

Singapore has always been at the forefront of the biggest and merriest events in the region all year round and the Yuletide season is no exception. Christmas is, in fact, one of the liveliest and largest celebration Singapore prepares for every year, with one of the major celebrations taking place at Gardens by the Bay.

From November 30 until December 26, the lush and beautiful Gardens by the Bay fills itself with Christmas markets, carols and Santa Claus, to get everyone into the Christmas spirit of joy and cheer.

The annual Christmas Wonderland is one of the must-see highlights of Singapore’s exciting and mesmerising year-end celebrations, with more than three million visitors of all ages watch as the gardens come alive with large-scale illuminations at night.

Turning heads this year is the magnificent Luminarie light sculptures, handmade by Italian craftsmen using white wood from south of Italy, which features Asia’s tallest golden Luminarie Christmas tree, as well as the 7-storey high Luminarie mirror maze. Also, don’t miss your chance to experience the magical snowfall in the tropics during the nightly Blizzard Time. There will also be carnival rides for – both young and old, such as traditional fairground favourites like carousels, trains, spinning tea cups, bumper cars and bumper boats. Complementing all this action is the Skating Rink at The Meadow!

And what is a carnival without some whimsical touch of magic? This year, Christmas Wonderland has the world’s top illusionist, Rob Lake, to headline a nightly performance from Tuesdays to Sundays. Also back by popular demand, Santa Grotto, the place where you may meet Santa Claus at his Alpine House, will be returning this year bigger than ever, with captivating installations that will surely leave you in awe. You may also pay Santa Claus a visit in his Alpine house decked in pinewood and maybe whisper your Christmas wish.

Lastly, do not miss the festive market, inspired by renowned Christmas markets in London and Paris, where you can pick up Christmas gifts for your loved ones, such as handmade crafts, delicious snacks and nick-knacks.
