Metfone C-League champions, NagaWorld have been drawn in Group F of the ASEAN region AFC Asian Cup 2019 after a competition draw was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Cambodian league champions will pit themselves against Tampines Rovers (Singapore), Hanoi (Vietnam) and an as yet undetermined team from Myanmar.
However, Hanoi are also taking part in qualification for the AFC Champions League. If they win a spot in the group stage of the Champions League, V-League runners-up FLC Thanh Hoa will replace them in group F.
Chhang Piseth, executive secretary of the Cambodian National Competitions Committee (CNCC), said the club would receive a travel subsidy worth $40,000 from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and are expected to play their opening match next February.
Boeung Ket were Cambodia’s sole representatives in the 2018 iteration of the competition finishing their group on six points, and on third in behind Ceres Negros and Home United.
Myanmar’s Shan United ended their participation bottom of the group.
