A 52-year-old village security guard was murdered on Tuesday by a man who stabbed him three times with a vegetable knife in Dangkor commune, police said yesterday.
Captain Huy Seng, Dangkor commune deputy police chief, said the murder took place at about 11pm at the victim’s house in Ta Ley village and noted that police are still searching for the suspect.
Cap Seng identified the victim as Keth Sitha, 52, who died after being stabbed three times in his chest with a vegetable knife.
Cap Seng said that on the night of murder, Mr Sitha and three friends were drinking beer at his house.
He noted that while drinking beers, Mr Sitha got into an argument with one of the three men, who then grabbed a vegetable knife and stabbed him three times.
“After stabbing the victim, the suspect fled the house,” he said. “After the suspect fled, the wife of the victim brought him by ambulance to the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital, but he died along the way.”
Colonel Chim Sitha, Dangkor district police chief, said police are trying to track down the suspect.
“Police already know the suspect’s name and identity,” he said. “We are now hunting him.”
