Cambodia’s ITF Taekwon-Do Federation officially opened its 21st club at Chompou Van School yesterday morning.
The ceremony was presided over by Keo Remy, Cambodian politician, President of Southeast Asian Taekwon-Do Federation – ITF, and Chairman of the Taekwondo Federation of Cambodia.
During the ceremony, which saw youngsters give taekwondo performances and take part in a blessing ceremony, Mr. Remy said it would be a boost for the schoolchildren to take up sport for the good of their health and for their country.
”Sporting facilities in primary schools will enable Cambodia to become better in future, he said. “The ITF is getting stronger and players are getting more able to compete. Cambodia can be strong in sports if it can begin to teach sports at primary school level
He also added that martial arts such as Taekwondo could help children to learn courage and discipline as well as improve physical fitness.
Mr Remy said that he would be looking to open further clubs at other schools.
