Finland Lauds Cambodia’s Development

PHNOM PENH, Feb 18  (Khmer Times) – On an official state visit, Finland Foreign Affairs Minister Erkki Tuomioja lauded Cambodia’s development and the progress made with respect to human rights and the economy.
 
In a press conference after meeting Foreign Affairs Minister Hor Namhong today, Mr. Tuomioja told the media that his visit to Cambodia aimed to enhance the relationship and cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Tuomioja said he considered Cambodia a good friend to the EU and Finland.
 
“I am really surprised to see the development Cambodia’s economy,” he said.  
 
Mr. Namhong said he briefed Mr. Tuomioja about Cambodia’s improvement and the current political situation in the country.  
 
He mentioned that Mr. Tuomioja was interested in the specifics of the country’s political system in Cambodia. He admired and recognized Cambodia’s efforts to improve their democracy.
 
During Mr. Tuomioja’s official visit, he will have a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen and will visit the Toul Sleng Genocide museum.
