With the Metfone C-League season over, players and staff of Phnom Penh Crown have been keeping busy by conducting a Football Clinic for Sihanoukville youngsters and also participating in the “Clean Up Kompong Som” event.

Mr. Yun Min, Provincial Governor, and Srun Darith, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment, thanked club owner Rithy Samnang for bringing the squad to the coastal city to take part in the initiative. The clean-up was held in cooperation with the Sihanoukville Provincial Administration and Sihanoukville’s Provincial Department of Education, Youth Federation of Sport.

Crown recently confirmed the appointment of Brazilian former Cambodian national team supremo Leonardo Vitorino in the role of head coach.

Crown, the most decorated club side in the kingdom, had been without a coach since the departure of Englishman Sean Sainsbury early last month.

Under Sainsbury, the six-time league champions fell behind to their traditional rivals. While NagaWorld and Boeung Ket tussled for honours, Crown spent much of the season scrapping against their mid-table rivals.

They finished the season in fifth place – well below fan expectations which expedited the termination of Sainsbury.
