Two people in Banteay Meanchey province are facing 20 years in prison after the provincial court charged them with drug trafficking over the peddling of nearly one kilogram of drugs in Poipet city.
Lieutenant Colonel Bun Sareth, deputy chief of the provincial anti-drug department, identified the two as Thun Sakunthea and Pheap Bros. Both were charged with drug trafficking and have been jailed pending trial.
Lt Col Sareth said the two sold drugs to casino goers in the provincial city.
“They were drug traffickers who sold drugs to casino gamblers in Poipet city,” he said. “The evidence was confiscated after police raided their home in the city.”
Lt Col Sareth noted that the duo was arrested on Thursday at about 5.30pm after anti-drug police raided their rented home in Poipet city.
He said that anti-drug police confiscated 90 ecstasy pills, 143 amphetamine pills, 30 tables of ketamine and 144 bottles of liquid ketamine.
