Kampong Cham Provincial Court charged a journalist for allegedly cheating two property developers out of more than $130,000 in a land fraud case.
Colonel Heng Vuthy, provincial general crimes department chief, identified the accused as Sem Bora, 45, general director of TV Online in Cambodia.
He noted that Mr Bora was arrested in Kampong Cham province on Friday and is charged with fraud. He faces up to three years in jail and is now in prison pending trial.
“He was detained on Friday by our provincial penal police following a court warrant for his arrest,” Col Vuthy said. “He is accused by the two victims of cheating them out of more than $130,000 in a land sale involving nearly eight hectares in Batheay district.”
Col Vuthy identified the victims as Chun Sokheang, 36, and Nhorn Sam Ath, 39, both property developers living in the district. He noted that police are now seeking to arrest eight farmers who are Mr Bora’s accomplices.
