Drugs found on man bound for Hong Kong

Immigration police yesterday arrested a Chinese national suspected of attempting to smuggle nearly two kilograms of methamphetamine to Hong Kong via Phnom Penh International Airport.

Lieutenant General Loek Vannak, director of Interior Ministry’s anti-drug department, identified the suspect as Yu Wei Yi.

“He wrapped the drugs on his thigh and his body,” Lt Gen Vannak said. “He attempted to export the drugs to Hong Kong.”

He added that upon searching the suspect, immigration officials found four packages of drugs weighing almost 2,000 grams.

Lt Gen Vannak noted that since the beginning of the year, National Police have cracked down on 6,277 cases, arrested 12,541 suspects and seized 500 kilograms of various drugs.
