Twenty-two high-ranking national police officials, including three provincial police chiefs have been put into retirement, according to a royal decree.
According to the royal decree signed on September 29 by acting head of state Say Chhum, 22 national police officials holding the ranks of Brigadier General to Lieutenant General were put into retirement.
Three provincial police chiefs to be retired included Prey Veng provincial police chief Major General Sreng Chea, Kampong Chhnang provincial police chief Major General Loch Vannara, and Pailin provincial police chief Major General Chea Chandin.
Maj Gen Vannara said that he has not yet received the official letter for his retirement.
“I have worked as police officer since 1979 and I am promoted step by step,” Maj Gen Vannara said, noting that it was normal for officials to get retired because they reached the age of 60.
He added that he did not know who will become his replacement.
