Anti-economic crime police and Camcontrol officers destroyed more than 40 tonnes of counterfeit products on Friday in Dangkor district.
Long Sreng, deputy director of anti-economic crime police, said the products included palm sugar, crackers and cosmetics, among others.
“Those counterfeit products also included bad quality soy sauce, fake cigarettes and unauthorised pesticides,” he said on Friday.
Lieutenant General Chan Vanthoeun, director of anti-economic crime police, said on Friday that the illegal and counterfeit products were confiscated in past raids.
“This is the twenty-seventh time that the department has brought evidence to burn down and destroy,” he said.
Sin Sideth, head of the laboratory department with Camcontrol, said the products could have had serious impacts on consumer health.
“For example, the fake palm sugar, they took white sugar mixed with oil and put a kind of chemical substance in it, and this kind of chemical substance could affect the people’s health, especially those with respiratory diseases,” he said.
