CapitaLand’s wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott), on Monday opened its first Somerset-branded serviced residence in the capital city, the Somerset Norodom.

The Somerset property is not the first serviced residence opened by Ascott in Cambodia.

In November last year, it opened the Casa Meridian Residence in Phnom Penh.

The property offers 169 fully-furnished residences within a modern 30-storey building. The serviced residence sits right off the Tonle Bassac commune.

“Somerset Norodom provides unparalleled conveniences to travelers and expatriates who value a balanced lifestyle in the heart of the capital city as it is flanked by myriads of embassies, international schools and a wide range of top-notch restaurants, cafes and shopping malls,” a media release from the company said.

Speaking at the soft-opening of the Somerset Norodom, Lew Yen Ping, Ascott’s country general manager for Vietnam, who oversees the company’s expansion here and in Myanmar, said Ascott has great confidence in the Cambodian market.

“We decided to put our first Somerset brand in Cambodia to cater for long stay and short stay accommodations here,” she said.

She said Ascott now has a total of 250 fully-furnished residences in the city.

Ms Lew said the Somerset Norodom project has once again enabled Ascott to capitalise on the demands for world-class serviced residences in the country.

“Somerset Norodom Phnom Penh will provide corporate travelers, executives and families a balanced living experience where they can immerse in the local culture while enjoying all the comforts of home. Guests can be assured they will experience a consistent, quality hospitality reflecting a sense of place, combined with a personal touch.” Ms Lew said.

She said Ascott Limited is one of the leading international serviced residence operators with 30 years of experience offering award-winning serviced residence brands that enjoy worldwide recognition.

“Located within a mixed-use development area, Somerset Norodom provides a wide range of options, from cleverly designed studio apartments to truly spacious three-bedroom apartments, suitable for both corporate and leisure purposes.

“Each serviced apartment is fitted with a fully-equipped modern kitchenette, separate sleeping corner or room and an en-suite bathroom. Somerset guests will also gain full access to the residence’s comprehensive facilities such as the on-site gymnasium, swimming pool, sky bar, resident lounge and a sauna,” she said.
