The first nine months of this year (2018) have seen the anti-drug police handle 6,205 drug-related crimes and arrest more than 13,691 persons suspected of drug use and/or trafficking.
The police reported on Friday, Sept. 28, that their crackdown on drugs has thus far dealt with 42 cases of drug possession in excess of one kilogram, led to the arrest of 16 ringleaders and 57 suspected members of their networks.
The narcs confiscated a total of 153¼ kilograms of un-processed cannabis, 790 packs of pills, and 65½ kilograms of ready-to-market marijuana. They also found and destroyed 234,283 cannabis plants in various locations.
The police sent 3,311 users to health centres for treatment, 4,054 to rehabilitation centres, and 4,181 were allowed to go back home after treatment.
