The government is partnering with a Chinese company to create the first private online school in the Kingdom to make it easier for students to learn new skills.
Laov Him, director-general of the Labour Ministry’s technical and vocational education and training department, said yesterday that discussion are underway with Join Capital Investment and Management for the venture.
“This Chinese company came to tell us that they will set up a private school in Cambodia via online learning,” he said after a meeting with Jiang Hao, director of the Chinese company.
He said the Chinese company wants to make it easier for students in Cambodia to study using modern technology, which it has already done in China.
Mr Him added that according to plans, the online school will be established later this year.
However, both parties must hold more discussions, he said, noting approval from various government institutions is required.
“The creation of this online school is aimed at boosting human resources in Cambodia,” he said. “Initially, the online school will train students in information technology, tourism, accounting, business and other skills; it will expand at a later date to match the education situation in Cambodia.”
