Prime Minister Hun Sen flew to Vietnam this morning to pay tribute to the late Vietnamese president Tran Dai Quang who passed away last week.
Speaking to reporters at the Phnom Penh International Airport, Sry Thamrong, Minister attached to the Prime Minister, said that Mr Hun Sen led a delegation, including Interior Minister Sar Kheng and a number of senior government officials.
Mr Thamrong said that upon arrival in Hanoi, Mr Hun Sen will attend the funeral ceremony.
“After paying tribute, Samdech will talk with Vietnamese leaders and the family of Mr Dai Quang,” he said.
Last week, Mr Hun Sen sent a letter of condolences to his Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, expressing great sadness on the passing of Mr Dai Quang.
He said that it was a huge loss of a leader who devoted to promoting the well-being of Vietnamese people and relations of fraternal friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
