Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged two men who allegedly transported more than two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from Stung Treng province into the capital.
Colonel Yin Panharith, an anti-drug trafficking police officer, identified the accused as Lor Sokunthear, 40, from Stung Treng province, and Singthin Outhang, 28, a Laotian national living in Vientiane.
Col Panharith noted that both were arrested in a sting operation at about 10pm on Friday in Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo district.
He said that after their arrests, police seized two packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing 2,012 grams, and two phones.
Major Keo Sarith, an anti-drug police officer, said the accused were members of a ring that often transported drugs from the Cambodian-Laotian border in Stung Treng to distribute to users in Phnom Penh.
