The AFF Suzuki Cup Trophy Tour kicked off in Cambodia on Saturday with AEON Mall 1 providing the venue for football fans to catch a glimpse of the trophy and some famous football faces.

Chief Executive Officer of Cambodia Suzuki Motor Nobuo Kidokoro, tournament sponsor, was accompanied by Cambodian national team assistant coach Ung Kanyanith, and a crop of current national team members.

Mr. Kidokoro explained that this year’s competition was sure to be unique with the addition of famed Melbourne Victory midfielder Keisuke Honda into the mix. The former Japanese international and ex-AC Milan enforcer recently took the reins of the Cambodian national team serving as General Manager.

Mr. Kidokoro said he was proud that Cambodia was able to attract a world-class manager to lead the team and that regardless of profitability his company would continue to back the Cambodian national team.

The Angkor Warriors play an international friendly against Singapore in mid-October in preparation for the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup competition. Cambodia find themselves in Group A alongside Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and Vietnam.

Cambodia starts their cup bid with a home game against Malaysia on November 8th in Phnom Penh. The competition will take place between November 8 to December 15 across 10 Southeast Asian nations.

After Phnom Penh, the AFF Suzuki Cup trophy will continue its tour heading to Bangkok, Hanoi, Jakarta, Manila, and Yangon.
