The dengue fever cases for the first six months this year increased to more than 70 percent compared to the same period last year, a report said.
The report by the National Centre for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control said that there were 5,284 dengue fever cases in the first six months this year.
“The cases of dengue fever this year are about 77 percent or 3,704 cases in which there were 1,590 cases for the first six months in 2017,” director of the CNM Huy Rekol said.
Mr Rekol said that more than 80 percent of the cases happened in Phnom Penh and provinces, including Kandal, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Kratie and Kampong Speu.
“Ten people died of the dengue fever in 2018 which is higher than that in 2017 when one person died,” Mr Rekol said.
More than 71 percent of the patients were children aged between 5 and 14.
