Police in Kandal province are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found in the Tonle Basac river in Koh Thom district.
Major Uy Seang, Koh Thom deputy police chief, said yesterday that villagers found the body at about 10am on Wednesday.
“According to an initial examination of the body, the victim was about 32-years-old and was murdered at least four days ago,” Maj Seang said. “After he was killed, his body was thrown into the river.”
“The body showed signs of trauma such as bruises on the head and face, and his hands were tied with nylon,” he added, noting that the victim was too badly damaged for police to identify.
Maj Seang said that anyone who has lost a family member should contact police.
The badly body has since been buried in Prey Lok village due to its condition, he added.
Provincial police chief Major General Eav Chamroeun said yesterday that police are still working on the case.
“Police have not yet identified the suspects nor arrested them,” Maj Gen Chamroeun said. “We are still working on this case.”
