More than 40 outstanding and successful individuals will be sharing their personal and professional experiences at the first edition of Cambodia Careers Convention (CareersCon) at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia on September 15 and 16, 2018.

According to Chea Sokhy, Managing Director of Outsources Management, the main organiser of the event, CareersCon aims to establish an accessible and reliable career development platform for Cambodian people to learn and explore the different employment opportunities while also helping people discover the career paths that are right for them.

Mr Sokhy shared, “The CareersCon is a career building conference that rolls out a career forum, a job expo, series of soft skill masterclasses and a digital hub portal. It provides career developments and job opportunities to local talents and connects them with businesses and organisations that may become their employers in the future. The opportunities include local and international freelance jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, part-time and full-time jobs.”

On September 15 and 16, from 9 am to 5 pm, the CareersCon is expected to draw about 3,000 participants who want to gain more information and experience on getting jobs. At least a thousand job offers from 50 companies and institutions from various sectors will also be a highlight.

Under the theme “The Impact of Technology in Business”, CareersCon will also showcase a panel discussion by prominent speakers from well-respected companies such as Sabay Digital Group, Re-Edge Architects, Institute of Learning for Success, Codingate, Westline Education Group and Smart Axiata.

Keo Lundi, managing director of Sromoch Trading Solution, shared some important parts of choosing the right career for oneself. He said that young people should know and understand themselves, their talents and what they want to be in the future. Setting goals is important as some people still find it hard to discover their real selves.

“No one can understand us as much we understand ourselves. And it’s important in setting our future. Even our parents, they sometimes do not want us to study the subjects that we like, and they ask us to study something that we don’t really like. So what young people should do is to talk to their parents and open their hearts out. That’s the better way than going into something that you don’t love or you don’t like to be,” said Mr Lundi.

Moreover, Mr Lundi emphasised that it is very important for people to follow what they love because that determines how their future will look like. Soft and hard skills are also very essential as well in preparing yourself for what’s ahead.

Outsources Management, a social enterprise that focuses on planning and managing influential events, provides a platform for the general public to embody creativity, talent and growth. Its two core services are event planning and brand management.

The two-day CareersCon is supported by Pi Pay, Cambodia Brewery Limited, BongThom.com, SD International Forwarder and EduQuest Hub. To those interested to be part of this year’s CareersCon, visit the official Facebook page www.facebook.com/CareersCon.
