Police have cracked down on 5,145 cases of drug-related crime and arrested more than 10,000 suspects over drug use and trafficking for 8 months this year.
According to the National Police’s report, there were 5,145 drug crimes involving 10,199 suspects across the country from January to August. Of those suspects, there were 213 foreigners.
It said that there are 3,304 cases related to drug trafficking, storing, possessing, and growing which was involving 5,956 suspects. There were 1,841 cases of drug use with 4,234 people arrested.
The report said that police seized 487.35 kilos of drug and 1,045 packs. The police also confiscated 38.73 kilos of dry marijuana and 132,175 marijuana plants.
It added that police confiscated a number of vehicles and properties, including 59 cars, 1,258 motorcycles, 3,322 mobile phones, 135 scales, 17 guns and 12 assault rifles.
Police have also asked for a freeze on the suspects’ five properties, including two plots of land, one cultivating land and two houses.
