Cambodian national team general manager Keisuke Honda touched down in Phnom Penh yesterday, arriving ahead of the Angkor Warriors September 10 friendly international against Malaysia.

The Football Federation of Cambodia on Saturday released a list of its 23-man squad. There were plenty of surprises in store for fans as the Kouprey’s – now led by the Japanese midfielder – surprised with the exclusion of players Khuon Laboravy, and keeper Um Sereirath. Star players Chan Vathanaka and Rous Samoeun are unavailable through injury.

In a surprising revelation which shocked football observers aroundthe world last month, Honda was announced as General Manager of Cambodia.

However, due to his lack of coaching licences reports suggested the role of the head coach will be taken up by Argentinian Felix Agustín Gonzalez Dalmas with the Melbourne Victory midfielder providing tactical advice in his role as GM. He said he intented to continue turning out as a player for Melbourne Victory.

Tickets for the Cambodia-Malaysia match are on sale from the Olympic Stadium and are priced at 10,000 riel for category 1 covered seating. 5,000 riel gets spectators general seats.
