Two senior National Police officials had their ranks promoted from Lieutenant General to General by King Norodom Sihamoni on Saturday.
“We promote the rank to General for two National Police officials of the Interior Ministry: Lieutenant General Sok Chanrithy and Lieutenant General Ek Monosen,” a decree signed by the King stated.
Both Gen Monosen and Gen Chanrithy are deputy presidents of the Police Academy of Cambodia.
Lieutenant General Svay Chanda, spokesman for the academy, said yesterday that both were promoted due to their hard work.
“I think that leaders of the Police Academy of Cambodia and of the Interior Ministry really considered this thoroughly,” Lt Gen Chanda said. “This is suitable to promote them because they worked hard for a long time.”
“They are good leaders, so they should be encouraged,” he added.
Gen Chanrithy and Gen Monosen could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Their promotions follow a reshuffle in the National Police made by Prime Minister Hun Sen.
