Kampong Speu Provincial Military Police said yesterday that two Thai nationals were arrested on Friday in connection to the murder of a 52-year-old businesswoman in Bangkok in July.
The arrests were made by military police in Kong Pisey district on Friday after police received a notice to arrest Aseya Cheyaphea and Anu Vath, said provincial military officer Major Sok Seila.
“According to Thai International Police, the two men killed a businesswoman in Bangkok in July,” Maj Seila said. “It was in accordance with a Thai court warrant that we made the arrests. We collaborated with Thai Interpol to make the arrests happen.”
He added that police confiscated two motorbikes, two cell phones, one laptop and passports.
The men were transported to the National Military Police Headquarters in Phnom Penh for questioning before they were handed to Thai police.
National Police spokesman Brigadier General Eng Hy said yesterday that the suspects were already deported. “They were transferred to police in Thailand,” he said, declining to comment further.
