Much movement among police top-brass

Prime Minister Hun Sen requested, in written form on August 31, King Norodom Sihamoni to assign new positions to three senior National Police officers.  In another letter the Prime Minister asked that ten senior officials of the Interior Ministry be allowed to go into retirement as they have reached the appropriate age.

Should the King approve, General Kirth Chantharith (Deputy Chief of the National Police) is to become the Director General of Immigration; General Korng Sokorn  (Deputy Chief of National Police) will be Director General of Identifications; and General Seng Yu Ann, (First Grade Senior Officer) will become the new Director General of Logistics and Finance.

The ten senior officers who have reached retirement age are: General Mao Bunnarin, Director of Logistics and Finance Department; General Sok Phal, Director of the Immigration Department; General Mao Chandara, head of the Identification Department;  General Thong Sam Ath, Secretary-General of the National Committee for Counter-Trafficking; General Phang Pov, chairman of the Legislative Council; General Moun Saron, chairman of the Intervention Unit of the National Police Commissariat; General Suos Angkea, Deputy Chief of the National Police; General Chuon Sovan, Phnom Penh Municipal Police chief; General Em Samnang, Deputy Director of the Logistics and Finance Department; and General Ly Kimlong, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the National Authority for Combating Drugs.
