Cambodia Foreign Affairs Minister, Prak Sokhonn, met with Singapore’s Prime Minister and with its foreign minister during an official visit to the Republic of Singapore (from August 29 to 31) to discuss the further advancement of the cooperation between the two countries.

Mr Sokhonn paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and discussed strengthening bilateral economic cooperations in areas like energy, aviation and telecommunications. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

He also updated Mr Lee on developments in Cambodia, including the recently concluded National Assembly Elections on 29 July 2018.

Mr Sokhonn lunched with his Singaporean counterpart, Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, during which they discussed ways to broaden the cooperation between Singapore and Cambodia both bilaterally and in ASEAN.

They emphasised the importance of ASEAN centrality and unity, and Mr Sokhonn expressed Cambodia’s support for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship.

Minister Balakrishnan reaffirmed Singapore’s continued support for Cambodia’s building and human resource development, exemplified by the new Cambodia-Singapore Cooperation Centre in Phnom Penh.
