King Norodom Sihamoni decorated Song Tao, head of International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Cambodia.
The Royal Order of Cambodia is the Kingdom’s second highest civilian award; the Prime Minister, on behalf of the King, presented it to Mr Song when they met at the Peace Palace on August 30.
Eang Sophalleth, assistant to Hun Sen, told reporters that Mr Song has been superogatory in promoting and improving the bilateral relationship between China and Cambodia. “This is a sign of appreciation for a Chinese friend.”
Mr Song’s visit aims to advance the application of agreements signed by both China and Cambodia.
Mr Song brought a message from China’s president, Xi Jinping, to Hun Sen that congratulated him and the CPP on their victory at the polls, and proclaiming China’s support of the party in maintaining peace and further developing the country’s infrastructure and economy.
