Kandal Provincial Court yesterday charged a 33-year-old farmer over the rape of his 12-year-old daughter, whom he impregnated.
Captain Soy Saravoan, chief of staff with Sa’ang district police, identified the accused as Phath Toeu, who was charged with rape with aggravating circumstances and faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted.
Cap Saravoan said the accused was arrested by district police on Tuesday after a complaint was filed by his wife the previous day.
Cap Saravoan said that according to the victim, the accused started raping her in July 2017, often when they went fishing at night.
“The first time, he caught his own daughter and raped her on his boat,” he said. “After the rape, he told his daughter not to tell her mother or other people; he threatened to kill her if she told.”
