In a meeting Sunday, Yimin Yu, from Yunnan’s E-Commerce Development Centre, and RAC’s president Sok Touch agreed to work together to create an online marketplace for Cambodian agricultural goods, among other projects.

“After the meeting, both sides agreed to collaborate to gather data on Cambodian agricultural goods and establish an e-commerce website in Khmer and Chinese to promote direct online purchases of local agricultural goods,” RAC said in a statement.

“Through this cooperation, we will also establish a cloud storage system for Cambodian agricultural products, and we will build warehouses in Sihanoukville’s port and other locations,” RAC said.

RAC also said a tracking system will be put in place as a result of the collaboration, boosting quality assurance for the Kingdom’s main agricultural products.

Hean Vanhan, director-general of the General Directorate of Agriculture, supported the move.

“I think the partnership will be very effective in promoting sales of our products abroad,” he said.

In the last five years, Chinese investment in Cambodia surpassed $21 billion, with China building nearly 3,000 kilometres of road and seven bridges in the Kingdom.
