Cambodia are having a golden weekend at the Jakarta-Pealmebang Asian Games as Saly Ou Moeut won the kingdom’s second gold medal in the Ski Modified Jet.-Ski event.

Saly won a further bronze medal in Runabout 1100 Stock bringing Cambodia’s current Asian Games tally to three medals.

Speaking after the win, Saly thanked his family. “ Thank you to my family and my mum, said the She always cares about me when I’m competing and cheers for me.

The kingdom were represented by Jet-Skiing duo, Ou Moeut Saly and Mustan Min who both gave inspired performances at Ancol Beach in Jakarta. Competing in all four events – Endurance runabout open, Runabout 1100 stock, Runabout limited, and Ski modified – the sport is making its debut at the games this year, having been part of the Asian Beach Games since 2008.

After a decent Moto 1 and 2 performance on Thursday the pair turned up the pressure in the morning finals with Saly blowing away a strong Thai challenge to claim his prize.

With Sorn Seavmey hurtling out of the Taekwondo competition earlier in the week it looked like Cambodia would be going home empty handed but on Friday, Jessa Khan handed the kingdom a gold medal in Ju-Jitsu.
