The National Police yesterday ordered all provincial commissariats to continue preventing and cracking down on the distributors of leaflets offering illegal sex services.
Local media Fresh News reported senior National Police officials saying that the order came from the national police chief himself.
“It’s an order from national police chief Neth Savoeun for all provincial commissariats to inspecting the case in their jurisdictions,” the report said. “And if there is a case of illegal sex services being offered, take measure to prevent it and investigate immediately.”
Major General Chuon Narin, Preah Sihanouk provincial police chief, said that he has confirmed that he has received the order from General Commissariat for the National Police.
“We have cracked down on porn leaflets and we will come very hard on that issue,” Maj Gen Narin said.
Maj Gen Narin said that his police officials are following the order to investigate the case.
“We are following procedure to find their ring leader,” he said. “Our country sex services and our tradition is good, so we will continue to crack down that case.”
Last week, Major Gen Narin said that seven men were arrested for operating a sex shop, while eight customers and the women were released after questioning.
He identified the suspects as Chen Zhi Min, 41, the massage shop owner; Wu Siang Yun, 44, the cashier; Xu Fei, 29, who managed the women; and four workers Zhuang Fei Yu, 37, Chen Gang, 35, Zhang Bing, 27, and Shi You Dan, 36.
Neither Kirth Chantharith spokesman for National Police nor Interior Ministry Khieu Sopheak could be reached for comment yesterday.
