PHNOM PENH, Nov. 4, (Khmer Times) – National Assembly (NA) First Vice President Kem Sokha reportedly earns a salary of $1,180 per month, as revealed in a document released by the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) Monday.
The document listing Mr. Sokha’s salary was issued in response to independent political analyst Kem Ley’s claim last week that Mr. Sokha has been earning upwards of $15,000 per month.
In addition to his basic salary, Mr. Sokha also receives allowances of about $1,190 for transportation, health care and work related expenses making a total of $2,370, according to the official document released by Hing Soksan, National Assembly deputy secretary general.
Mr. Sokha’s salary is comparable to National Assembly President Heng Samrin’s $2,384 monthly salary, it added.
Mr. Soksan, who is also the CNRP Youth President, said that the document provides the complete details of Mr. Sokha’s remuneration as parliamentary vice president.
