PHNOM PENH, Nov. 4, (Khmer Times) — US Army Staff Sergeant Michael Edward Harris, who jumped bail in his country on child pornography charges, will be deported today around midnight.
Harris, who deserted from the US army and is on their top 20 most wanted list, was arrested in October after a two week manhunt across the Kingdom. The 34-year-old is wanted on more than 40 counts of possession of child pornography and over allegations of child rape.
Two US Marshals arrived in Cambodia yesterday to oversee Harris’s extradition to the US. They will accompany him on a Korean Airlines flight to Incheon, where they will transfer to a flight to the US, according to the Ministry of Interior’s immigration department.
Harris entered the Kingdom in January and assumed the alias Mike Dobbs while working as a dog trainer in the coastal city of Sihanoukville
But following widespread speculation on social media about his whereabouts, following the posting of photos of Harris by his ex-wife on Facebook, he fled his rented apartment in October. After a few days in Kampot, Harris headed to Phnom Penh and then Kratie, where he was finally arrested on October 28th.
