PHNOM PENH, Nov 3, (Khmer Times) – It’s not just the riverside that is being smartened up for the Water Festival. The government is making sure other parts of the capital will be lit up for the eagerly-anticipated celebration.

The Public Lighting Unit of the Ministry of Public Works completed their mission of fixing defective street lamps, and changing light bulbs, in three public parks in Phnom Penh on Sunday.

Neak Banh Teuk Park (by the Independence Monument), the Hun Sen Park (near his residence), and the Tonle Bassac Park (between Sisowath Quay and the river, around the Himawari Hotel) will now all shine come nightfall.

The Ministry of Public Works announced also that an underground power line near Street 271 and one near the Old Market had been temporarily cut.
