PHNOM PENH, Nov. 2, (Khmer Times) – 24 lucky ladies were selected as semi-finalists in the Miss Tourism International Cambodia on Sunday at Naga world. Over 100 young ladies auditioned, waiting an estimated five hours before their turn to present themselves to the judges.
Although many entrants learned about Miss Tourism from Facebook and national media, some modeling agencies promoted their models during the audition rounds.
Ms. Un Sokunthea, now general manager of a talent agency, who represented Cambodia in the year 2000, was happy to support the event and would like to “encourage Cambodians to promote Cambodia overseas and bring the culture to share with other countries,” she said.
The 32 ladies gathered to practice their walk on the runway, shyly answering the judges’ questions and some even singing or dancing as requested.
Although some were still very new to posing for the camera or walking in six inch heels without tripping, all the lovely ladies greeted the three judges with bows of respect.
The grand finale will take place on November 23 where the winner will be chosen from eight final contestants, to represent Cambodia in the 18th Miss Tourism International World Final in Malaysia on December 31.
Representatives from an estimated 80 countries will tour Malaysia for three weeks before the World Final, promoting “Tourism, Culture and Friendship,” according to the Miss Tourism event management company, Asia Plus Network.
