Eight Nigerians Detained on Drugs Charges

PHNOM PENH, Nov. 1, (Khmer Times) – On Friday afternoon, eight Nigerian men were provisionally detained in custody on suspicion of drug trafficking. 

The men were identified as: Ime Johanudom, 59, Favour Ibezi Mako Iberta, 34, Echowdo Sam Son, 33, Okechukwu Ikefuaku, 26, Ikechukwu Onyinyechi Theddaus, 37, Oragwam Godwin Emeka, 23, Micgael Nwankwo, 24, and Ezigbogabriel Chukwueloka, 41.
A court official speaking on condition of anonymity, claimed that all of the suspects were illegally married to Cambodian women.

The suspects were arrested at around 7:30 pm on 26 October at Teuk Thla commune in Sen Sok district by officials of the anti-drug police unit of the Ministry of Interior.  

Police allege they found 6.41 grams of methamphetamine and two packets of a dried narcotic leaf. Authorities also seized two motorbikes and three cars on suspicion of having been used in connection with the crimes.
