One of China’s hottest boy bands, the three-member TFBoys, announced on Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo on Tuesday that they will release their newest single “Zui Hao De Na Nian” (“That Best Year”) this week.
“The teenagers will carry on with a cherished collection of love and moving moments [heart][heart][heart] TFBOYS ‘That Best Year’ to release on August 9 at 8:06 am with gratitude,” reads the post, which was forwarded nearly 100,000 times on the platform in just a day.
The release of the new single comes just three days after the fifth anniversary of the group’s official debut.
Many fans flooded the post to express their approval and excitement.
“TFBoys, I have been supporting you and watching you from anonymity to today’s success; you’re my unreachable dream and the faith of my life,” wrote netizen MeiZMzmer in one of the most-liked comments under the original post.
The group has also announced that they will hold a concert in Beijing celebrating the anniversary later this month.
Made up of three teenage boys – Wang Junkai, Wang Yuan and Yi Yangqianxi – TFBoys made their debut on August 6, 2013 and soon shot to fame after the release of their debut album Heart, Dream & Start in October and their single “Magic Castle” in early 2014.
According to Siyi Chen, writing in qz.com, TFBoys learned from successful boy bands from South Korea and Japan, which have long dominated the Chinese boy/girl band market.
“The three boys from TFBoys started young and appeared on reality TV shows to build their public profiles, measures that K-pop and J-pop (Japanese pop culture) perfected in the creation of pop idols they export abroad.
“TFBoys have done that too: They’ve got fans in South Korea, Thailand and a host of other Asian countries outside China,” Chen writes.
