Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged a 36-year-old woman over the trafficking of nearly half a kilo of methamphetamine in Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo district.
Captain Seng Saroeun, an anti-drug police officer with the Interior Ministry, identified the accused as Len Paley, from Russey Keo commune.
Cap Saroeun said she was charged with drug trafficking and faces at least 20 years in jail if convicted.
He said the accused was arrested on Thursday after police raided her rental house in the commune.
“She was a gang drugs distributor,” he said. “Undercover officers contacted her for many weeks to buy drugs from her.”
“She was later arrested by anti-drug police as she sold drugs to our undercover officers at her rental house,” he added. “She was arrested red-handed.”
After the arrest, police seized six packages of crystal methamphetamine weighting 611.85 grams, one drug scale and one phone, he noted.
Cap Saroeun added that police are now looking for other suspects linked to the accused.
The accused has been jailed pending her trail.
