Cambodia’s Under-16s continue to struggle at the ongoing AFF Under-16 Youth Championships in Indonesia registering a 4-1 defeat to Myanmar in their fourth group game.

The kingdom’s youngsters, led by former senior national team coach Lee Tae-hoon, found themselves in Group A alongside Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Myanmar, Philippines, and host Indonesia. Group B consists of Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Laos.

After losing their opener 1-0 to Vietnam, they were then defeated 2-1 by Timor-Leste. They recovered some pride by handing a 5-1 hiding to the Philippines but they were soon brought back down to earth by rampaging Myanmar on Saturday. The heavy loss leaves them without a chance of qualifying for the next round.

The top two teams from each group will play out semifinals on August 9, with the final scheduled for August 11.

Cambodia’s participation in the 2017 edition of the regional championships in Thailand was similarly disappointing. The youngsters slumped to a 4-2 defeat by Malaysia in their final group game. Cambodia finished third in group B with two wins and three losses.
