Tried to Cop a Cop’s Bike

PHNOM PENH, September 29, (Khmer Times) – The Porsen Chey district police arrested a young man yesterday, shortly before midnight, for trying to steal a motorbike.

The 14-year-old suspect, Doeun Siha, tried to steal a motorbike parked near the Porchentong playground. His misfortune was that the Honda Scoopy belonged to a police officer of Kakap commune who was sleeping on the grounds at the time.

The unnamed officer explained, “I heard voices from the people living nearby shouting that a thief was stealing a motorbike, so I woke up quickly. Then I saw that it was my motorbike.”

“I and my colleague arrested him on the scene,” he said.

Mr. Doeun Siha is now in custody at the Porsen Chey district police station.

Local police said that the victim confessed to stealing the motorbike and that they are completing the paperwork to send him to court in Phnom Penh.
